Organic Lemongrass Essential Oil In incense, this herb gives a wonderful lemondrop childlike playfulness, which fits with Valerie Worwood's description of the scent as "innocent." Some consider this to be one of the essential Faerie scents, which jibes with a Victorian perception of fairies as innocent and playful. But perhaps seeming innocence coincides with the Mercury rulership of this fragrance, as Mercury is the trickster god. Consider adding lemongrass to magic oils used for divination and ceremonial magic, because Mercury presides over the magickal arts. Also, this scent is excellent for perfumes that are intended to help with the acquisition of knowledge (especially of the magical sort knowledge). You might, for instance, make a natural perfume based on lemongrass to be worn while studying magick books or participating in classes on occult knowledge. Or try adding lemongrass to a shapeshifting oil, since Mercury is the transgressor, the one who goes between, and who rules disguise. Lemongrass is the main ingredient in Van Van Oil. This essential oil is steam-distilled from Cymbopogon citratus. Top Combining With Other Essential Oils Use only in low concentrations and with other oils to prevent skin irritation, and don't put on your skin if you will be in the sun. The lemon-sweet fragrance of lemongrass goes well with basil, bay, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, frankincense, geranium, hyssop, lavender, mandarin, nutmeg, orange, petitgrain, rosemary, spikenard, thyme, vetiver, and yarrow.
