Organic Clove Bud Essential Oil We've seen this scent listed as both a Jupiter and Sun, but lean toward Sun, since that planet usually rules works of protection and prosperity and since this is definitely a warm, sunny scent. This magick herb has been used in various ways in magick, including protection from negative magick (especially for children), exorcism (a kind of protection), and purification. Yet cloves also often play a part in money spells. This Sun scent can help create a feeling of safe warmth and thus a sanctuary in which to do magickal work. The word "clove "comes from the Latin word for "nail" and refers to the shape of the dried bud, but this nail does not pin one in place. Instead, clove's Elemental Fire aspect encourages action and achievement. This botanical fragrance is good for building confidence and unlocking the chains of old ways of thinking--in the words of the herbalist Gerard, this magick herb "comforteth the heart." However, clove bud essential oil irritates the skin easily. Use it only after much dilution. Steam-distilled from Eugenia caryophyllata. Combining With Other Essential Oils The natural perfume of clove bud goes well with scents of allspice, amyris, atractylis, bay, benzoin, beeswax, bergamot, blood orange, boronia, caraway, cardamom, carnation, cascarilla, cassia, cassie, cedarwood, chamomile, champaca, cinnamon, citronella, clary sage, coconut, copal, coriander, costmary, cubeb, currant bud, fennel seed, frankincense, galangal, geranium, ginger, grains of paradise, grapefruit, guaiacwood, gurjun balsam, ho leaf, ho wood, immortelle, jasmine, labdanum, lavandin, lavender, lemon, mandarin, narcissus, nutmeg, orris, palmarosa, patchouli, petitgrain, pimento berry, roman chamomile, rose, rosewood, sandalwood, tobacco, tolu balsam, tonka bean, treemoss, turmeric, vanilla, and ylang ylang.
