Amyris Essential Oil
Amyris is steam-distilled from Amyris balsamifera, a tropical evergreen tree in the citrus family that is native to the West Indies. Due to its woody-balsamic notes and fixative qualities, amyris is often referred to as West Indian Sandalwood, although the trees are not related botanically. The wood, dense with fragrant oils and resins, is highly flammable, thus this tree is also known Candlewood or Torchwood. Combining With Other Essential Oils The subdued, woody scent of amyris goes well with benzoin, bergamot, cardamom, cedar, elemi, frankincense, fir, galbanum, geranium, grapefruit, jasmine, labdanum, lavender, lemon, lime, nutmeg, oakmoss, orange (sweet), palmarosa, patchouli, petitgrain, rose, rosewood, sandalwood, spikenard, storax, tangerine, tuberose, vetiver, and ylang ylang. |
