Blue Tansy Essential Oil

This herb is protective, especially against the authorities, maybe because in the Middle Ages, it was strewn in the house to keep away bloodsucking insects.:) Its scent has a long association with death and funerary rites, in particular those that focus on rebirth or resurrection. It was believed to help guide the spirits of the dead. Likewise, this fragrance is connected to the celebration of Ostara, a festival closely connected with rebirth, and with fertility. Since this fragrance comes from a Venus herb, consider it for work with dark goddesses; it's nice for adding a bit of the dark side to Venus oils, for example. Oddly enough, in the Victorian language of flowers, tansy means a declaration of war on the recipient (maybe because it was familiar to people as a bug repellent). Some assert that it means the same thing in strega, so it should be helpful for offensive magick.

This essential oil is naturally blue and is wonderful for coloring magick oils and natural perfumes. It is made from the annual (Tanacetum anuum) rather than the common tansy (Tanacetum vulgare). Don't use it if you have epilepsy. Steam-distilled from Tanacetum annuum in Morocco. Top

Combining With Other Essential Oils

The warm, herby scent of tansy blends well with cedarwood, lavender, peppermint, pine, rosemary, and wormwood. Top
